BIOFACTORY compost is defined, according to Legislative Decree 75/2010, Annex 2 (the Italian fertiliser act), “fertilising mixed compost” and “fertilising green compost”. By definition, therefore, compost is “material to be added on soil on site, mainly with the aim of preserving or improving its physical and/or chemical characteristics and/or its biological activity”.
BIOFACTORY quality compost is obtained through a controlled transformation and stabilisation process of urban and not hazardous special wastes.
» BIOFACTORY compost has the Quality mark issued by the Italian Consortium of Composters.
» BIOFACTORY compost is registered in the Register of the Fertilisers for organic agriculture (Legislative decree 217/2006).
» BIOFACTORY compost is registered in the Register of producers (RUP – art. 20 of Legislative decree n. 214 on 8/19/2005) under phytosanitary control: the material being analytically controlled by the Regional Plant Health Service does not contain any quarantine nematodes (free and cystoid).
Because it improves the global fertility: More specifically.
The compost, as fertiliser and soil improver, can be successfully used as a substitute for manure.
BIOFACTORY compost has:
» about 60% of dry matter (manure has 25%)
» 45% of S.O. on dry matter (manure has 80%)
Weight-for-weight (t/ha) compost brings, as compared to manure:
» the 50% more of organic matter
» a double quantity of nitrogen
» an almost double quantity of phosphorus
» an almost double quantity of potassium
Considering the same volume (m3/ha) compost brings, as compared to manure:
» the same quantity of S.O.
» a double quantity of nitrogen
» an almost double quantity of phosphorus
» a 30% less of potassium
The use of compost as a substitute for manure allows:
» to facilitate the finding
» less quantity of material to distribute, in case of equal nutrients to generate (in particular N, P and K)
» to reduce the distribution times
» to reduce the labour costs
» the ease of distribution on the soil
» absence of weeds
